The Third Wave Experiment is a lesson in indoctrination and should be a reminder of what happens when people blindly follow. Everyone should do their research and know what they are getting into.

The famous Third Wave Experiment might help explain your feelings about some current events and media. It was 1967, and a high school teacher named Ron Jones tried an experiment to explain the Nazi’s rise to power during WW2 to his students. The students wondered how an entire country could become cruel and evil. After all, aren’t people naturally good, caring, and selfless?

The Third Wave Experiment

The teacher did an unofficial experiment to show them just how easy it is for anyone to become like the Nazis.

He created a group in his class called the “Third Wave,” with rules, symbols, community, etc. (things not inherently bad). However, an atmosphere arose in which the Third Wave quickly took on several negative traits.

Jones used catchy phrases like “Strength Through Action.” This one is Nazi propaganda from 1932, which says “Work and Bread Through National Socialism.”

Within days (that is days, not weeks!), the group grew to over 200 students! These students did not hesitate to ostracize, ridicule, and bully other students. They would label critics as traitors as totalitarianism took over.

By the fifth day, Jones had ended the experiment after leading all the students into the auditorium with the promise of a major event. This is where the teacher broke the news to them that what they had been doing was not real. It took time for the initial shock to wear off.

The Standford Experiment Was Worse

The Stanford Prison Experiment was very similar and had to be shut down after seven days because of the abuse it was inflicting upon those involved in the experiment.

One student from the Stanford Prison Experiment said the harm caused by the worst guard (“John Wayne“) still harms him (in the present tense). He stated he knew ‘John’ was a ‘nice guy’ but “I know what you can turn into.”

This should all lead us to ask, “Why would I be any different?” These were people, and since you and I are also people, we are subject to the same temptations and pressures. What is stopping you from turning into ‘John’ or a Third Wave student, or worse?

We Should Learn from History

I’m not trying to be wholly negative here. I am trying to bring to light some important historical experiments and lessons about the human condition. After all, this is important if we want to avoid the hypocrisy of becoming the very oppressors and evil doers we condemn.

I have two brief closing thoughts.

Know The Problem

The first is being aware of the problem. Third Wave, students were much more conscious of the human condition after the experiment than they were before. Learn from them.

Be Careful Who You Follow

Second, in the words of one student, “Be careful who you follow because you never know where they will lead you.” Who or what are you following?

Tim Keller gives some incredible words here regarding following Jesus and where it leads: “[These are] Christianity’s unsurpassed offers—a meaning that suffering cannot remove, a satisfaction not based on circumstances, a freedom that does not hurt but rather enhances love, an identity that does not crush you or exclude others, a moral compass that does not turn you into an oppressor, and a hope that can face anything, even death.”

I’m not going to be a victim when I have the capability to fight for my belongings. Too many friends have had their things stolen and never had the opportunity to stop the thief.

I don’t usually let myself go down rabbit holes in my personal life. I try to stay on track with my main focus, real estate, mortgages, and development, with a little crypto for fun.

But I don’t think it would be fair to write my regular blogs without at least sharing a little “insider information” for my loyal followers on my “situation” that happened last week. It was February on the way to REVN (Real Estate Vancouver Investment) in my hometown of Vancouver, WA.

I just got gas and noticed my left front tire was a little low. I was in a rush and needed to get across town, so I was only going to add air to the front left. When I was getting out, I noticed my briefcase was sitting on the passenger seat with a couple of new homebuyers’ applications I had just signed that morning, along with some financial information from my clients that I needed to scan. I thought to myself, DO NOT GO IN THE STORE AND LEAVE YOUR CAR UNATTENDED.

So, as I was getting air in my tire, a vehicle drove by and dropped off the assailant around the corner. The assailant quickly ran up as I bent down by the rear tire, jumped in the car, and started the engine.

I heard the door close, and I remembered MY BRIEFCASE!

It Was 30 Seconds

I opened the door; he put it in reverse and floored it as I lunged at him, and as the car flew backward, I kind of crumpled up on the dash/window. When I came down, I was able to shove it into park. He took one swing and knocked off my glasses, and that’s when I knew I had one chance, and this was a life or death situation.

I went straight into a headlock with my left arm while taking a couple of punches. I reached down to grab my gun that I usually carry only to realize I left it at home but came back with my finger in his temple, yelling, “I have a gun, and I’m going to blow your F#&$in brains out.” I kept throwing swings while ripping off his face cover and hat to get a good look at his face.

He had a change of thought, and his last words were, “Let me go, let me go.”

I Refused to Be a Victim

I am fortunate this ended the way it did, and I realize I took “a risk,” but I have no regrets and refuse to be called the “victim.” Like most men, I’m approaching this with a “fix it” mindset and using this negative experience to make a positive impact in Washington State instead of leaving. I’M STANDING MY GROUND.

Why Take the Risk?

Being robbed and having someone try to carjack you is a terrible feeling that is hard to explain to anyone who’s never been in that position. It can wreak havoc on your sense of security and create fear that can linger forever. I empathize with anyone who has been in this position, and the fight today goes out to those who were stolen from in the night.

I appreciate those who have reached out to join in on a calvary to go clean house, but vengeance will not fix the problem.

The State of Washington Went Too Far

The state went too far with changing laws to protect the bad guys. They allowed the media attention and pressure from George Floyd, BLM, and the WOKE to push to defund the police, restrict them from pursuing bad guys, and enable the thieves to prosper by stealing cars to use for transportation and not being able to pursue them when they drive by. (See HB-1054, and we are working on HB-1363 to at least allow a police officer to pursue without getting a superior to approve.)

Stolen Vehicles are Used to Commit Other Crimes

These stolen cars are driven to rob stores and residences. They usually dump the vehicles when they sell the goods to purchase drugs. As drug use increases, so does mental illness, homelessness, and crime.

The state and local governments want to increase taxes to pay for the homeless issues, but they could be upstream if they focused on stopping crime before it ruins the state or more people get killed.

The mainstream media, as usual, cut out my “opinions” on the crime. With news stations in the northwest, freedom of speech is not a thing.

Many stories are coming out of Israel about Hamas terrorists kidnapping Israeli citizens. Videos and images show them going door to door of homes to kidnap people, including young children. These are heinous acts that must be dealt with swiftly and decisively.

Never Go to a Secondary Location

In my courses, I stress never allowing yourself to be restrained or taken to a secondary location. Nothing good ever comes from it. If you become restrained, you are at the mercy of the threat(s) controlling you. Most of the time, they will not show you mercy, only violence and pain. Often, death is the outcome.

Your Line in The Sand

When someone attempts to restrain you, that is your red line in the sand. That is your trigger to immediately, decisively, and ferociously fight for your life. Even if your attackers outnumber you, you’re injured, or the threat has a weapon, you must immediately fight back. You may not survive, but generally, that is your best time to fight back.

This video is of 25-year-old Noa Argamani, who is a Chinese-Israeli citizen. Multiple Hamas terrorists abducted her at a music festival in Israel on October 7th, 2023. Currently, she is still alive somewhere, and I cannot imagine the fear she is experiencing.

https://letstalkdefensivegunuse.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Noa-Argamani-Kidnapping.mp4

Being Taken Reduces Your Odds

Fighting back does not guarantee you will survive. Yet, not fighting back and becoming restrained and taken to another location significantly reduces your options and often results in death. I have seen too many instances where they tortured and killed someone they kidnapped.

It’s All About Mindset

There are no guarantees when it comes to violence. It is critical that you think about a kidnapping situation now to know where you stand if the day ever comes when your life is in jeopardy. Develop your mindset now and develop response options. Whether it is a lone abductor or multiple terrorists, you will have a decision to make regarding your situation. You will not have much time to take action.

The Reason I do What I do

When I was seven, a predator attempted to abduct me. Even at that young age, I was not about to let that happen and took measures to prevent my abduction. Had I not done so, I would probably be a crime statistic that is long forgotten. That incident impacts me every day of my life and is the reason I do what I do.

Let’s talk about body language and warning signs of a likely attack. Watch this video, and then we will go over things to look out for.

The event in this video happened in April 2023 in Mexico. In this video, a woman looks like she is being forced into a car, but fortunately, it wasn’t a kidnapping; instead, she was being committed to a treatment facility. It still shows what to be aware of, and it could have easily been an actual kidnapping.

If it was real, there was a high likelihood her family probably wouldn’t have seen her again. This is REALITY!

https://letstalkdefensivegunuse.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/body-language.mp4

First, the lady is a victim, and these are likely professional predators, so let’s not bash her.

The victim appears to be upset. Her body language is that of being unsure of herself and not walking with a strong, defined purpose.

The attacker is acting in a relaxed manner. Predators are well-rehearsed and are usually calm.

When he sets his water bottle down, that’s an indicator that he’s getting ready to use both arms and hands on her.

He slightly steps towards her, closing the reactionary gap.

When he grabs her, he “hugs her,” getting control of her body.

Your biggest self-defense tool is your brain.

The biggest self-defense tool you always carry is your brain, not a weapon. Don’t ever place yourself in a dangerous situation. Use situational awareness, walk with a purpose, and have that commanding presence.

When you act like you’re out for a “stroll,” you’re telling the bad guy you’re an easy target and probably won’t fight.

Lately, presidents and governors have used executive orders to implement policies without voter or legislative approval. But there are limits to executive power. NO president or governor is a king or emperor with absolute power. That is the very definition of dictators and tyrants.

Executive orders are not unchecked strokes of power from the president’s (or governor’s) pen; federal courts can challenge and deem them unlawful. In fact, the U.S. Supreme Court determined during the Korean War that executive orders must fit within a specific sphere of power and cannot simply defy Congressional intent, as explained in the article in my next comment below.

U.S. Constitution Supremacy Clause

Further, people commonly refer to Article VI, Paragraph 2, of the U.S. Constitution as the Supremacy Clause. It establishes that the federal constitution and law generally precede state laws and even state constitutions. The Supremacy Clause prohibits states from interfering with the federal government’s exercise of its constitutional powers and assuming any functions exclusively entrusted to the federal government. It does not, however, allow the federal government to review or veto state laws before they take effect.

“This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.”

The U.S. Constitution, including all 10 amendments in the Bill of Rights, is the “Supreme Law of the Land.” It defines and limits the scope and powers of government at all levels.

Gov. Grisham’s Oath of Office

And last, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico took an oath of office as follows:

“The Constitution of the State of New Mexico Article XX Section 1 (Oath of Officer) reads, “Every person elected or appointed to any office shall, before entering upon his duties take and subscribe to an oath or affirmation that he will support the constitution of the United States and the constitution and laws of this state, and that he will faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of his office to the best of his ability.”

So there’s that pesky constitution thing again.

I think the good, law-abiding people of New Mexico should ignore and resist this nonsense. And I believe New Mexico should get serious about punishing criminals rather than the law-abiding citizens of their state. But that’s just my opinion.

I saw two posts dealing with firearms from someone I do not know, talking about arming teachers and mass casualty incident training. In these, the original poster appears to say private citizens should not fight against an attacker.

In the mass casualty incident (MCI) post, paraphrasing here, his stance was that the only option should be running. Hiding makes you more of a target. He even used Uvalde as an example of hiding being pointless because that classroom full of children was stuck there with no avenue of escape.

According to his post, fighting is pointless, as you stand no chance, even if you have years of training in hand-to-hand combat. He even said that with his 14 years of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), at best, it would be a toss-up.

In his post about arming teachers, he uses the example of friendly fire incidents in the military, specifically the Army. He argues that expecting teachers to target an attacker without harming innocent people is unrealistic, given that professional soldiers can mistakenly shoot at the wrong person.

Arming Teachers Statistics New York Times

Can Arming Teachers Be Effective

In my opinion, both arguments are wrong. Just because someone does not have the training of others does not prove they cannot respond correctly and accurately to overcome violence against them.

First, we should all train to avoid violence if possible. Be situationally aware. Be vigilant. But be prepared.

However, sometimes we can’t avoid it. In that case, hiding may be the best option. Not always, but it can be. A couple of exceptions do not make it the rule.

Just because soldiers in chaotic situations can mistakenly fire upon their fellow soldiers doesn’t mean we should prevent teachers from being armed. Children are our greatest treasures. We should do whatever we can to protect them. However, if we allow teachers to carry firearms, we must ensure they receive proper training.

Teachers Should Have Firearms Training If they Want It

A LOT OF TRAINING! As much as possible, and then even more. I strenuously encourage everyone to get training in my Minnesota permit to carry courses. I don’t care if they have been shooting for decades or are brand new to firearms; we can all get better. And we should strive to get better.

It is ridiculous and callous to discourage someone from protecting themselves or someone else just because they have messed up. Everyone has the God-given right to self-defense.

We shouldn’t train to overcome any and all threats. Whether that is by avoidance, running, hiding, or fighting. We should always train to overcome.

They say in business, you have to roll with the punches. Yesterday, I quite literally rolled with the punches after an unprovoked attack on the Venice boardwalk.

After an incredible day of meetings and a brilliant panel at TikTok HQ in Los Angeles, I went for a walk along the boardwalk to enjoy the sunset and unwind. After just 5 minutes, an aggressive individual confronted me, shouting for no apparent reason. Instinctively, I tried to avoid him, but unfortunately, out of the blue, he rushed at me and punched me very hard in the face.

It was an enormous shock. There was lots of blood, a broken tooth, significant swelling, and a deep cut on my lip. Some people walking by kindly looked after me while I regained my composure, and then the police came to arrest the individual.

Unfortunately, even though the perpetrator was still there, it turns out there was very little the police could do to make a difference. They could only arrest him and send him to prison for one night. After that, he would most likely return to do the same to others. It’s an unfortunate virtuous cycle, and the current system is not set up to improve it.

So, the moral of the story, and the reason I am sharing this, is to tell people to be extra safe by keeping their distance if approached by anyone who may appear aggressive, even in a very public setting.

With crime rates increasing across cities worldwide and with the dilemma all of us and the police face, what do you think needs to change to discourage crimes like this?

We are trying to follow the several lawsuits, what courts they are in, at what level, what judge has ruled or not ruled, who is on the TRO, what the TRO is, etc. We are all listening to different groups—ISRA, NRA, 2AF, and GSL—about who has filed what lawsuit and where.

Illinois banned what they call “Assault Weapons”

The Illinois State Government has banned what they call “assault weapons,” telling law-abiding gun owners to register or surrender firearms that have certain cosmetic features or face prosecution. The Illinois State Supreme Court allowed the Protect Illinois Communities Act (Act) or (HB-5471) to proceed on August 11, 2023, and it is now the law of the land in Illinois. We, the gun owners, all 2.4 million of us, have until December 31, 2023, to comply with the new law.

What are your options?

We all have questions, even the experts, like What defines an “assault weapon”? What can we do other than register or surrender our firearms? Can we ship them out of state? Can we “modify” the illegal features to make them legal?

And many more questions, all of which have caused a lot of debate among us. The discussion of this law needs to continue for us to understand how to deal with it.

If we do not act appropriately and act right now, this could play out badly for many of us. Like many others, I believe we will prevail if or when this goes to the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS). The problem is that this law is already in effect, and SCOTUS will not hear it until next year. So, the Illinois State Government is treating us as guilty until proven innocent, and they want to punish us without a trial.

Assault Weapons Ban Enforcement

The government fully expects mass non-compliance. Most experts are predicting over 80%, but nobody knows to what extent or what 80% really looks like. The State of Illinois knows very well that it will enforce this law before the SCOTUS can rule on it, and Illinois will have that gun registry for future use. I mean, how do you “un-register” a gun?

Because of this, we can no longer trust the tyrannical state of Illinois, and it is impossible to reason with them. Most of us have known this for years, but it has become blatant. Many gun owners are calling for an actual fight. Although it could come to that, make no mistake, we must make the government abundantly aware of how many of us dissent before things get any further out of control.

ISP plans to enforce it.

The ISP is a different story; its chief, Brendan Kelly, supports it, and the ISP plans to enforce it. Every member of the ISP should watch the Nuremberg Trials. PICA has broken the trust between law-abiding citizens and law enforcement. As gun owners, we have no clue what agencies, other than ISP, will enforce or to what extent; bottom line, we don’t know who we can trust.

With a law this vague, there is no way to know exactly what guns need registration and which ones don’t, not that it matters. It takes mere suspicion to get a warrant. Many gun owners wonder if the authorities will target them, arrest them, or, even worse, harm them because of their possessions or a misunderstanding of a gun law written by people who lack an understanding of guns.

Nobody wants to live in fear and be on the receiving end of violent tyranny. I would expect Illinois to lose residents over this. For those stuck here, this should be a call to action.

Gun owners need to get involved

Politicians only care about being elected or re-elected, and we need to make every state politician aware that we are paying attention, that we disagree with them, and that we are not going to just roll over. We must make the government of Illinois understand the conundrum in which they have put 2.4 million LEGAL gun owners in Illinois.

In 1994, the NRA ran a brilliant campaign because of the 94 AWB that said, If you want to get rid of stupid gun laws, you need to get rid of stupid lawmakers that pass them. Lo and behold, most members of Congress that voted for the 94 AWB lost re-election, and in 2004, when it was due to come up again, NOT ONE member of Congress would introduce it. The idea worked then and would work today.

Primary season is upon us, and local representatives will be seeking signatures and speaking at events.

On average, every state representative has 23K gun owners in their district, and every state senator has over 45K gun owners. How many of them do you think have won an election by more than that number of votes?

Every gun owner should write two letters, one to their state representative and one to their state senator, stating they will not vote for them if they support PICA.

Many of you may think this will do nothing or be a waste of time, but if a state legislator received 10,000 or 20,000 letters, it would, without a doubt, cause a stir. If every state legislator received 10,000 or 20,000 letters, it would cause serious concern. Think of that pile of mail in their office.

Editors note: To put this in perspective, I did some rough math on how big the pile of mail would be. A typical tray will hold roughly 400 pieces of mail if they DO NOT REQUIRE A SIGNATURE and are regular envelopes.

2,000,000 letters (nice round number) / 400 letters per tray is 5000 trays. The photo has 50 trays on one pallet. That would require 100 pallets. You don’t need to show up and protest to make a statement.

Imagine sorting through all that mail. Send a larger envelope requiring a signature; you do the math. Kevin may have an excellent idea, and that estimate is if everyone writes only one letter. I can’t even begin to imagine signing for that many.

The infighting and bickering in the firearms industry needs to stop

Gun owners need to get involved, and the infighting and bickering need to stop. I propose starting a new discussion that outlines what we can agree on and what actions we can take.

Help the state representatives on our side and make our voices heard by the state representatives that are not. We should be loud and very direct but not violent or unlawful. Elections are the best opportunity to stop an anti-gun politician from getting on the ballot, regardless of the party.

The time to file witness slips is over

The time of filing witness slips and being polite is long over. Never in history has gun registration NOT ended in violence by the government; read that again. Many people will say that “their” local police will not enforce it.

A majority of Illinois sheriffs wrote letters expressing their disagreement. Still, the governor threatened those sheriffs who disagreed with the law, saying he would remove them if they did not comply, sound familiar.

“The right to keep and bear arms for defense of life, liberty, and property is regarded as an inalienable right by the people. I, among many others, believe that HB 5471 is a clear violation of the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution.”

What do we have to lose? Our gun rights

There are 2.4 million gun owners in Illinois. If the Illinois General Assembly received over a million letters of dissent, it would have a severe impact. This would take you a few minutes and cost less than a dollar.

Send letters, make phone calls, talk to your fellow gun owners, talk to your representatives, but please speak up and get involved.

The only guaranteed way to win a gunfight is not to get in it. This might be our last chance because the only guaranteed way to lose a gunfight is not to have a gun.

Propaganda is any communication, whether honest or dishonest, whose purpose is to influence attitudes, values, and behavior; anti-smoking posters, anti-drunk-driving posters, and requests for blood donations are examples of honest and constructive propaganda. Propaganda in political controversies is almost exclusively an offensive weapon, and everyone should use it as such.

Colonel Paul Linebarger’s Psychological Warfare says it is relatively futile to try to parry or discredit enemy propaganda because they have already done the damage the enemy has done with their argument. “Therefore, propaganda does not meet propaganda. Combat forces meet; Psychological Warfare forces pass one another in opposite directions.” Jonathan Swift wrote similarly in 1710, emphasis is mine, “Besides, as the vilest writer has his readers, so the greatest liar has his believers; and it often happens, that if a lie be believed only for an hour, it has done its work, and there is no farther occasion for it. Falsehood flies, and Truth comes limping after it; so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late, the jest is over, and the tale has had its effect: like a man who has thought of a good repartee, when the discourse is changed, or the company parted: or, like a physician who has found out an infallible medicine after the patient is dead.”

Then-Lieutenant George S. Patton wrote similarly in his Saber Exercise of 1914, “The saber is solely a weapon of offense and is used in conjunction with the other offensive weapon, the horse. In all the training, the idea of speed must be conserved. No direct parries are taught, because at the completion of a parry, the enemy is already beyond reach of an attack. The surest parry is a disabled opponent.”

Our goal must be not to attempt to parry the other side’s wide array of attacks on gun owners, licensed gun dealers, and law-abiding firearm manufacturers but to disable the other side’s credibility with the American people. We must accordingly depict the other side as dishonest and incompetent gun quacks, and I mean in the same context as cancer quacks, whose actions will put law-abiding people at risk. We must ask repeatedly, “If what they want to do is right, why do they need to lie?” Once somebody is proven a liar, nothing he or she says afterward has any meaning—that’s why “giving somebody the lie” was once a literally mortal insult, and being proven guilty of this character defect is still cause for expulsion from the US Military Academy—and the surest parry is indeed a disabled opponent.

Knowledge of the Constitution is an essential requirement for the practice of law, and there is no Second Amendment right to hunt. Joe Biden’s statement that you can load only three shells to hunt waterfowl is a partial truth told with intent to deceive, which the US Military Academy’s Honor Code defines as a lie. Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s statement that nobody needs ten bullets to kill a deer shows that he is either dishonest or incompetent to practice law, the latter if he believes the Second Amendment is a right to hunt deer or anything else. When Cuomo was HUD Secretary, he advocated frivolous and malicious junk lawsuits against gun manufacturers, further reflecting his lack of character and integrity.

Biden also advised people to fire shotguns to scare off prowlers, reinforcing the perception that he is dishonest, incompetent, or both. Steven Nelson’s “Joe Biden’s Shotgun Advice Could Land Jill Biden in Jail” cites several Delaware laws that would be violated were somebody to discharge a weapon inside city limits except for self-defense against an immediate violent threat. President Biden is licensed to practice law in Delaware, and Biden should know better.

President Biden‘s depiction of knife-wielding assailants as “unarmed” and his suggestion that police officers shoot to wound prove his dangerous incompetence in the realities of armed self-defense.

Katie Couric’s and Stephanie Soechtig’s Under the Gun claimed to prove how easy it is to buy a gun without a background check. “We sent a producer out, and he was from Colorado. He went to Arizona, and he was able to buy a Bushmaster and then three other pistols without a background check in a matter of four hours. And that’s perfectly legal. … He just met somebody in a parking lot in Wendy’s and bought a Bushmaster legally.” A Colorado resident cannot legally purchase a firearm in a private sale in another state. It is, therefore, reasonable to conclude that they made up the story and peddled this fake narrative as a documentary. The producers claim they turned the guns over to police to be destroyed, but this does not change the fact that it was illegal for a Colorado resident to buy them in a private sale in Arizona in the first place, so I believe it never happened.

The Million Mom March, supported by Hillary Clinton, Dianne Feinstein, and other prominent enemies of the Second Amendment, solicited money and volunteer time under the fraudulent premise that firearm violence kills 12 or 13 children a day. This is true only if one reclassifies young legal adults, 18 and 19 years old and in a very violent demographic age group, as children. The MMM liquidated in 2001 after I and others exposed it for misusing 501(c)(3) tax-exempt money to promote House candidates on its website.

The 501(c)(3) tax-exempt “educational” Violence Policy Center (VPC) says openly, “The weapons’ menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons—anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun—can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.” To me, it sounds like the VPC wants to exploit rather than clear up this confusion to gain support for its agenda.

The bottom line is that if somebody is doing the right thing, he or she does not need to lie to make it happen.

A few blocks from my home at the corner of Jones and Robindale in the southwest valley of Las Vegas, a man committed a random act of senseless murder and violence. It could have happened anywhere in the world. But this one was in my neighborhood.

It was 12:30 a.m., a man was sitting in his car in front of a convenience store gas station, and his girlfriend was inside shopping. This lone gunman walked up to the waiting driver and shot and killed him. He then proceeded inside, shooting randomly at both the customers and employees. They were all able to escape. This incident happened on November 4, 2021, and I remember it vividly.

Random Acts of Senseless Murder and Violence

Law enforcement never found a motive, and it appears to be just what it was: a random act of senseless murder and violence. I have omitted the gunman’s name because I don’t believe in making people like this famous. I have also omitted the victim’s name out of respect for him, his family, and friends.

So when someone asks me, “Why do you think you need to carry a gun?”

Well, because of things like this, the random acts of senseless violence seem to be happening all too often in our city, country, and the world. It doesn’t seem to matter where you are because anywhere now you are in a “soft target” area—stores, schools, hell, everywhere, in public.

Adding More Firearms laws

I know many people seem to believe that adding more laws or background checks will either solve or reduce this senselessness, but I don’t. We currently have some 20,000 gun laws in the United States. Some states (California, New York, New Jersey, Oregon, and Hawaii) are adding more and more laws due to Supreme Court rulings that they are, in fact, violating their citizen’s constitutional 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

I have owned guns pretty much my whole life, never shot anyone, and hopefully, I never will, either! I carry my gun to protect myself, my family, and yes, if the situation arose, perhaps one of you, if we found ourselves in a situation like this one.

Criminals Don’t Follow the Law

Criminals don’t abide by or respect the law, they live by an entirely different set of rules than you and I do. They believe they have a right to take from you what you have worked for, even at the cost of your life or anyone else’s!

Life Isn’t Cheap

To them, life is cheap, especially if it is your life! For me, however, my life and the lives of those who I love, well, that is very important!
