September 2023: A 17-year-old boy in Texas used a shotgun to defend his family against four home invaders, killing two of them. The surveillance video showed four men attempting to break into the home, not three, as initially reported.
They found the two men who were shot dead outside the home when the police arrived, while the other two managed to flee the scene. The house’s occupants were unharmed, including an adult woman, a 12-year-old boy, and two 17-year-old boys. According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the district attorney will present the case to a grand jury.
While using a shotgun can be effective in home defense, it’s a tragedy that a young man had to resort to violence to protect his loved ones.
